UVa fans didn't have to travel far to celebrate the win.
Those who stayed in Charlottesville were also celebrating Friday.
Fans started arriving at local bars to watch the bowl game around 11 a.m., and by 3:30 p.m. they had cheered the Cavalier football team to victory, calling the game an impressive win against Minnesota.
"I was pretty surprised that Virginia came back," said UVa Fan Kenneth Coleman. "But they played strong, they got in the game, came back and won and [I'm] impressed, very impressed."
"It's exciting to know that they actually went to the bowl game and won," said UVa fan Genna Flint. "It was great, a good win."
Fans are hopeful the Cavaliers' victory over Minnesota will help the team's recruiting efforts in the future.
