Former Cavalier Ryan Zimmerman has started working out and could start swinging the bat as early as next week.
Zimmerman tore his labrum in his left shoulder on May 18th and has not played in a game since May 26th. Nationals Manager Manny Acta says that Zim is making a lot of progress, though no timetable has been set for his return to the diamond.
Washington has struggled without their franchise player. The Nationals are 11-20 since Zim went on the DL and they've only hit .247 in his absence. Zimmerman also still leads the club in home runs.
In tonight's action, the Nationals fell to the Marlins 6-5 in 10 innings. Josh Willingham hit a walk-off home run to win it for the Marlins.
