Three Cavalier men's lacrosse players are helping the under 19 Team USA do great things at this year's World Lacrosse Championships. Midfielders Shamel and Rhamel Bratton, along with goalkeeper Adam Ghitelman are members of the team, which is just two wins away from winning a world championship.
Team USA finished pool play 5-0 in the six team Blue Division, and advanced to the semifinals with a 24-4 win over England on Monday. They will battle the winner of Germany and England on Thursday evening at 7:00.
While Shamel Bratton was an original selection, twin brother Rhamel made it as an alternate, replacing an injured player. Both have had solid campaigns for Team USA as valuable parts of the midfield.
As for Ghitelman, his 61.54 save percentage is second in the tournament. He has allowed just over seven goals per game, and has been a big reason why the red, white, and blue is undefeated. Not only are the Americans 5-0 in 2008, they are 34-0 all time in international competition.
