The Cavalier football team has been selected to finish fifth in the ACC Coastal Division by media attending the conference's annual kickoff event in Greensboro, Georgia. Virginia received 161 total points to go along with one first place vote.

Virginia Tech was picked to win the Coastal Division, receiving 58 first place votes. North Carolina is projected to make a big jump to second, with Miami coming in third. Georgia Tech is selected to finish fourth, with Duke bringing up the basement.

The Atlantic Division finds Clemson atop the projected standings, as the Tigers received 59 first place votes. The Tigers are also picked to win the entire ACC. Wake Forest is second in the preseason poll, with Florida State in third. Boston College is picked to finish fourth, after appearing in the conference title game a year ago. Maryland and NC State bring up the rear of the Atlantic Division.

Virginia will look to once again silence the critics, as they were picked to finish fourth in the division last season, only to finish second with a 9-and-4 record.
