Chris Long officially signed his name on the dotted line on Tuesday with the St. Louis Rams, after the two sides reached an agreement on Saturday night. Long will be in camp on time when the team reports on Thursday in Wisconsin. The former Cavalier will be pulling down some pretty big numbers when it comes to his salary.
Long's deal is for five years with a club option for a sixth, and is worth 56.5 million dollars. 29 million of that is guaranteed, according to published reports.
The former Virginia star has already been named the starting right defensive end by head coach Scott Linehan, and will line up with the first team when the squad takes the field for practice during camp. The Rams hope that Long will give them a better pass rush presence. During his senior season at Virginia, he collected 14 sacks and 19 tackles for loss en route to being named ACC Defensive Player of the Year.
