Former Cavalier and current Washington National Ryan Zimmerman recently spent nearly two months on the disabled list, his first trip to the DL in his three year professional career. Zimmerman returned to the line up last Tuesday, and sat down with CBS19 at Nationals Park.
Back on May 18, the third baseman tore his labrum in his left shoulder, and, prior to last Tuesday, had not seen any action since May 26. Now, his shoulder feels better than it ever has, as he looks to give his team a boost. The Nationals are 0-8 since his return, and are in last place in the National League East.
Zimmerman talked about his six game minor league rehab as well, saying that it got him back into game shape. He was a little tentative during those first couple swings in games, but now he says all the bugs are worked out, and he is back to full strength, not only physically, but mentally as well.
He also touched on his team's recent struggles, and says that run production will be the club's focus during the final two months of the season.
