The Cavalier football team is just five days away from kicking off its 2008 season against USC. Virginia wrapped up its two phase preseason camp on Wednesday, and is now focusing exclusively on game preparation for the Trojans.
Virginia has lost its last two season openers, though both have been on the road. This will mark their first contest against the USC, as the depth chart for that game is expected to be released on Tuesday. Offensive coordinator Mike Groh said last week that he had hoped to have decided on a starting quarterback by the time the team reached game preparation. Groh hopes to work exclusively with one as the number one signal caller heading into Saturday's game.
The Trojans have listed Mark Sanchez as their starting quarterback for Saturday's game. Sanchez dislocated his kneecap back on August 8, though seems to be ready to go.
