The Cavalier football team continues towards its season opener against Southern California, and will welcome the Trojans as the first ever PAC10 team to visit Scott Stadium. It marks only the second time the Virginia has faced a PAC10 opponent in the program's history.

The Cavaliers may have lost their last two openers, but they are 11-1 in their last 12 non-conference home games. Virginia fell to Western Michigan back in 2006, marking the only blemish during that time. USC enters Scott Stadium ranked third in the AP Poll and second in the USA Today Coaches Poll. It is the highest ranked team to come to Charlottesville since top ranked Florida State visited in 1999. It also marks the first time the Virginia has opened the season with a ranked opponent since 2001, when they took on Wisconsin.

Al Groh said today that he has a good idea who the starting quarterback will be, but went on to say that it is unlikely that decision will be announced prior to game time on Saturday. Peter Lalich, Scott Deke, and Marc Verica continue to take equal reps at practice.

Virginia players say that they look forward to the opportunity to battle the Trojans. Click on the above video link to hear their thoughts on Saturday's game.
