Connecticut jumped on Virginia early and never looked back, cruising to a 45-10 win over the Cavaliers Saturday night.
The Huskies marched 70 yards on their first offensive possession of the game, capping off the drive with a 3 yard touchdown run by Donald Brown. UConn had a 7-0 lead at the end of the 1st quarter, and from there, things just went downhill for Virginia. The Huskies scored touchdowns on all three of their offensive possessions in the second quarter to take a commanding 28-0 lead after the first half.
The Cavaliers finally got on the board in the 3rd quarter when Yannick Reyering booted a 43 yard field goal, the longest of his career. But minutes later, Brown dealt the Cavaliers defense another blow, breaking through for a 63 yard touchdown run. He finished the game with 20 carries for 206 yards and three touchdowns.
UVa's Marc Verica was 22 of 30 for 158 yards and an interception in his first career college start. The Cavaliers have a bye next week before heading to Durham, NC to face Duke on September 27th.
