The Covenant football team posted 15 points in the final eight minutes of the game to top Blue Ridge in come-from-behind fashion, 22-19. The Eagles improve to 3-2 on the season, while the Barons fall to 1-2.
Blue Ridge took a 13-7 lead into halftime and Speedy McCauley hit Roderick Holloway in the end zone to extend the lead to 19-7 in the fourth. That's when the Covenant comeback began. It all started with a Chris Shifflett rushing touchdown to cut the lead to 19-14. Then, Lee Coppock found Hunter Loose with a deep ball on play action for the score. A two point conversion put Covenant on top for the first time in the game, 22-19.
Blue Ridge took one final shot at the end zone, as McCauley tried to score on a quarterback keeper as time expired, but the Eagle defense stopped him to preserve the win.
