Senior running back Cedric Peerman did not see one play of action in the Duke game on September 27. Al Groh said this is because he wanted to get Peerman back to 100 percent. Now that the senior is healthy, he is making the most of his opportunity.
Peerman has exploded during the last two games for Virginia. In the Cavaliers' October 4th 31-0 win over Maryland, Peerman gained 110 yards and scored a touchdown on 17 carries. He followed that up with an even greater performance, posting 173 yards against East Carolina last Saturday, including two touchdown runs of 79 and 60 yards respectively.
Peerman has catapulted to the fifth best rusher in the ACC, averaging 75 yards per contest. His running style is one that ignites his teammates. Offensive tackle Eugene Monroe says that hearing Peerman collide with defenders is like hearing a car crash, and the running back is the one doing the hurting.
The Cavaliers will hope for more of the same from Peerman this Saturday, as they battle North Carolina at Scott Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30pm. Click on the above video link to hear from Peerman and Monroe.
