The Cavalier women's soccer team received an at-large bid to the 2008 College Cup on Monday, marking the 15th consecutive year that Virginia will appear in the NCAA Tournament.
Virginia earns the second seed in its region, behind only UCLA, and will host first and second round action. The Cavaliers host Army on Friday night at 5:00pm in first round action at Klockner Stadium. West Virginia and Princeton will meet in the other first round pairing. The winners will meet Sunday at noon.
Steve Swanson's Cavaliers are 13-4-3 on the season, and coming off a loss in penalty kicks to Virginia Tech in the semifinals of the ACC Tournament. This marks Virginia's 21st overall appearance in the field of 64. The Wahoos face an Army team that is fresh off a Patriot League championship, as the Black Knights make their first ever trip to the big dance.
Last season, Virginia won its first two contests at Klockner Stadium, before falling to top seeded UCLA in the round of 16 in overtime.
