The Monticello Mustangs kept their hopes of back-to-back state crowns alive, as Brud Bicknell and company topped Briar Woods, 30-13. Michael Graham had a rushing TD and a passing score, while Hines Banks added two rushing touchdowns in the win. Sam Roller pulled down the TD reception from Graham.
Monticello found itself down at halftime, trailing 13-10, but charged back for 20 unanswered points in the second half, and secured its 20th consecutive home win. The Mustangs will face the winner of Saturday's Millbrook-Handley match up in the Region II finals next weekend.
Coach Brud Bicknell joins us in studio as well to talk about his Mustangs and their victory against the Falcons.
Saint Anne's Belfield was not as fortunate. The Saints fell to Atlantic Shores, 33-13, in the VISFA state title game, falling short of their bid to win three consecutive state crowns.
