The Virginia men's soccer team had not won an ACC title since 2004. Sunday, the Maryland Terrapins made sure that drought would continue.
Jeremy Hall's goal in the third minute turned out to be all Maryland would need, as the Terrapins shut out Virginia 1-0 to win the ACC Championship.
Virginia had a couple opportunities to get the equalizer late in the game. In the 88th minute, Brian Ownby headed a shot that went just wide of the goal. And with less than a minute to go, Karter Smith had a nice opportunity to score, but was unable to reach the ball before Maryland's keeper Zac MacMath picked it up.
The Cavaliers will find out their seeding in the NCAA tournament on Monday.
