The Cavalier men's basketball team's 107-97 victory against VMI on Sunday was headlined by one of the best performances by a freshman in Virginia history. Sylven Landesberg did not know he would be in the starting line up until just hours prior to tip-off, and did not disappoint in his debut.

Landesberg played in 36 of the 40 minutes on Sunday, scoring 28 points, while pulling down eight rebounds and dishing out eight assists. The 28 points are the most ever scored by a Virginia player in his debut. His efforts earned him ACC Rookie of the Week honors.

Landesberg and the Cavaliers will be back in action on Wednesday night, as Virginia plays host to South Florida. Tip-off is set for 7:00pm at John Paul Jones Arena.
