Monica Wright scored a career high 35 points and Britnee Millner hit the game winning free throw with five seconds left, as the Cavalier women's basketball team stunned sixth ranked Tennessee, 83-82. The win took place on the Volunteers' home floor in Knoxville.
Virginia trailed by as many as 13 points in the first half, and Tennessee held an eight point lead at halftime, but the Cavaliers charged back. Debbie Ryan's squad found itself trailing, 80-75, with 1:44 to play, but trimmed the deficit to two, and Monica Wright's jumper with 41 seconds to play tied the game up at 82.
The Cavaliers improve to 2-0, and will face another tough test on Friday. Virginia travels to Old Dominion, who beat them last year in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
