Cavalier offensive tackle Eugene Monroe has been named to the AP All-American second team. The honor is just the latest on a long list of postseason accolades for the Virginia lineman.
The AP honor marks the third All-American team that Monroe has been selected to. Last week he earned second team spots on the rivals.com and Walter Camp Football Foundation teams. Monroe is the seventh Cavalier to be named to the AP All-American team under head coach Al Groh. He is the 28th overall Virginia player to earn All-American status with the organization.
Monroe's AP nod is just the latest award he has received following the 2008 season. The tackle also received first team All-ACC honors and was the recipient of the Jacobs Blocking Trophy, which is given to the best blocker in the ACC.
Monroe hopes that his career does not end at Virginia. He hopes to be one of the top picks in April's NFL Draft.
