Published reports have indicated that Gregg Brandon will be the next offensive coordinator at Virginia. The Toledo Blade was the first to report the happening today.
Brandon would replace Mike Groh as offensive coordinator, and look to provide a spark to an offense that struggled during the course of the last three seasons. The Virginia offense did not crack the top 100 in total offense, as well as several other offensive categories, during the younger Groh's three year tenure at the head of the unit. He stepped down as the offensive coordinator last Monday.
Brandon comes to Charlottesville from Bowling Green, where he compiled a 44-30 record in six seasons. He led the Falcons to three bowl appearances, but was fired following 2008 after a 6-6 showing. He had been signed at the school through 2011. Brandon served as offensive coordinator at the school under Urban Meyer, before taking over for Meyer when he departed.
We will have more on the Cavalier football coaching search as more information becomes available.
