The Cavalier Men's Basketball Team travels to Blacksburg on Saturday to battle ACC and in-state rival Virginia Tech. This is the first of two match ups between the Cavaliers and Hokies on the year.
Virginia enters the game with a 7-5 record, 1-0 in the ACC. The Cavaliers have won three of their last four, including a 74-50 victory against Brown in their non-conference finale on Tuesday. Mike Scott scored 15 points and pulled down ten rebounds in the win. The Wahoos found a win in their conference opener back on December 28, topping Georgia Tech in overtime, 86-82, in Atlanta.
The Hokies, meanwhile, enter the match up with a 9-5 record, but fell their last time out in their ACC opener at Duke. Virginia Tech only scored 13 second half points in that match up, falling to the Blue Devils, 69-44. That was Virginia Tech's first slip up in awhile, as they had won their previous four games entering that eventual loss to Duke.
Virginia Tech had the Cavaliers' number last season, sweeping the season series. Both game went to overtime, as the Hokies won in Charlottesville, 70-69, followed by a 72-65 win at Cassell Coliseum three weeks later. Virginia has not won in Blacksburg since 2005-2006.
