The Cavaliers couldn't have started off any slower in Thursday night's loss to North Carolina. After a costly turnover early in the first half, UVa let down their guard and UNC opened up the flood gates as they went on a 14-2 run early in the first half. The Cavaliers would narrow the gap to just a point, but the Virginia defense couldn't hold up as the Tar Heels put away the Cavs 83-61

It's no secret how UNC got the job done either. The combination of All-American Tyler Hansbrough and Ty Lawson orchestrated an up-tempo transition game which made easy work of a young Cavalier squad who had no answer to the Tar Heel offense.

Hansbrough paced the Heels with 28 points, 15 of them off free throws, and Lawson contributed with 19 points and 9 rebounds. UNC also held down five-time ACC rookie of the week Sylven Landesberg, holding him to just two points.
