Kevin Leatherwood was a four year starter at quarterback for Charlottesville High School and fans will not have to travel far to see him play at the college level. Leatherwood has verbally committed to play football at Norfolk State.
The senior will receive a full scholarship to play quarterback for the Spartans. Leatherwood took an official visit to the school on January 10, and he moved it to the top of his list after seeing the facilities and meeting the players and coaching staff. He'll join former Monticello star Takeem Hedgemen as a Spartan.
He spent a better part of his senior year on the sidelines, as he battled through injuries. Prior to that, Leatherwood was a bright spot for the Black Knights, earning all district and all region honors in 2007, as well as all district in 2006.
Leatherwood is also a stand out on the Black Knights' basketball team, which currently is in first place in the Jefferson District. We will keep you updated on Leatherwood's progress, including his official signing day.
