The Cavalier women's basketball team had its nine game winning streak snapped on Friday, but took the right steps towards starting a new one on Wednesday night, topping Virginia Tech, 75-69, in Blacksburg. The win improves Virginia's record to 15-3, 2-1 in the ACC.
The two teams battled through the first half, but Virginia was able to go on a run late in the frame and took a 38-28 lead into halftime. The Hokies made it interesting in the second half, as the game was tied at 69 in the final two minutes, but Virginia ended the game on a 6-0 run to clinch the win. It marks their fourth straight victory against their arch rivals, and seventh victory in the last nine meetings.
Lyndra Littles paced Virginia with a game high 28 points, while Monica Wright added 23. Aisha Mohammed chipped in 12 points and eight rebounds.
