Toney Douglas and the Florida State Seminoles came into John Paul Jones Arena Saturday looking to shake off a tough loss to in-state and conference rival Miami. They did just that. The Seminoles held Virginia to just three field goals and a total of 16 first half points, their worst first half performance since 1993.
After the break, the Cavaliers found themselves in a situation that they have become accustomed to, being down several points and battling from behind. However, he Seminoles wouldn't budge. They held off Virginia handing them their fourth loss in a row, and their fourth conference loss of the season.
Sylven Landesberg paced the Cavaliers with 24 points, while going 14 of 14 from the free throw line. Florida State was led by Toney Douglas with 21 points.
The Cavaliers have an eight day lay-off before traveling to Cameron Indoor Arena to take on Duke on February 1st.
