The Cavalier women's basketball team had lost two of its last three games entering Monday's contest at Clemson, but made sure that's where it ended. Virginia picked up a key road win at Littlejohn Coliseum, topping the Tigers, 75-67.
Virginia opened up a 24-12 lead in the first half and went into halftime leading 36-26. The Cavaliers came out firing in the second, opening up the lead to as many as 16 points, but Clemson fought back, and pulled to within five on three straight Kirstyn Wright three pointers, 57-52. Virginia, however, opened up the lead again, converting on its next four possessions, and held on for the eight point win.
Lyndra Littles led the Cavaliers with 22 points on the night, followed closely by Monica Wright's 19. Aisha Mohammed posted a double-double of 17 points and eleven rebounds in the victory.
The Cavaliers improve to 16-4, 3-2 in the ACC. They'll face a tough test on Friday when Maryland visits John Paul Jones Arena. Click on the above video link to view highlights of Monday's action.
