The Virginia Cavaliers' latest defeat at the hands of Florida State is the the latest example of digging themselves into a large deficit and trying to climb out when it's too late.

Let's look at the numbers. Against the Seminoles the Cavaliers scored a season low 16 points in the first half and followed that up by a 46 point second half performance outscoring Florida State in that half by three. Against Maryland, Virginia was outscored 45-30 in the first half but outscored the Terps 48-39 in the second. Also, against rival Virginia Tech, the Cavs scored 33 first half points to the Hokies 40, only to turn up the heat with the help of Mustapha Farrakhan in the second half to outscore Tech 42-38.

The Cavaliers know what the have to do, and they have a chance to prove it on Sunday against Duke.
