The Madison boys basketball team improved to 20-0 on Monday with a 61-34 victory against George Mason. The Mountaineers controlled the game from the opening tip off, jumping out to a 16-0 lead and holding a 20 point lead at halftime. Madison now finds itself just two wins away from a perfect regular season. The Mountaineers travel to Clarke County on Wednesday, before hosting Strasburg on February 11 in their regular season finale. Bull Run District Tournament action tips off on February 13.
The Albemarle boys grabbed their second straight road win Monday night, topping Colonial Forge, 56-39. Cameron Anderson paced the Patriots with 19 points, while Andre Roberts added 15.
The Patriots girls fared the same, stopping the Eagles, 56-35. Albemarle opened the game on a 9-0 run, but found itself down six late in the second quarter. The Pats fought back and eventually pulled away for the 21 point victory. Laura Gomez led Albemarle with 19 points.
