As the Jefferson District regular season winds down, Monticello and Louisa both look to go on late season rallies in boys basketball. The two met in Mineral on Wednesday, with the Mustangs winning a back and forth contest, 77-70. Monticello will finish its season with two home games, hosting Fluvanna on Friday night, followed by William Monroe on Tuesday. The Lions travel to Orange on Friday and host the Flucos on Tuesday.
Madison improved to 21-0, but had to hold off a pesky Clarke County squad in order to do so. The Mountaineers topped Clarke, 54-49, behind 25 points from Logan Terrell. Madison can finish the regular season undefeated with a win next Wednesday in its season finale against Strasburg at home.
Saint Anne's Belfield cruised past Trinity on Wednesday, 85-64, to improve to 16-2. Brett Goodloe paced the Saints with 30 points on the night. They'll face Christchurch on Friday evening.
On the girls side, Monticello and Louisa went down to the wire, with Lisa Marshall hitting the game winning shot with 10 second left, giving the Mustangs the 37-36 win.
