Virginia women's basketball came in to Thursday night's game on a three game win streak, and looked to keep the ball rolling against Duke. All was well early in the first half, as the Cavaliers started out the game on a 13-2 run, and held the Blue Devils to just six points with just just over six minutes to play in the first half.
After that however, things took a turn for the worse for the Wahoo's. Duke stormed back a took a 33-25 lead into the break. In the second half, the Cavaliers would cut the lead to three, but breakdowns in defense would leave them short 81-67. Dropping Virginia's ACC record to 4-3.
Duke had four players in double figures. Including Jasmine Thomas who had 22 and Karima Christmas who had 18. Virginia was led by Lyndra Littles, who led all scorers with 29 points, and Monica Wright who had 21.
Next up for the Cavaliers is a battle with in-state and conference rival Virginia Tech this Sunday at John Paul Jones Arena.
