The Western Albemarle boys basketball team moved one step closer to the Jefferson District regular season title on Friday, topping Charlottesville, 61-49. The victory game the Warriors a season sweep against the Knights. With a win at Orange on Tuesday, the Warriors and Knights will meet again in a one game playoff to decide the regular season title.
Monticello made it a season sweep of Fluvanna, but needed double overtime to do it. In a back and forth battle, the Mustangs topped the Flucos, 78-76.
Orange stormed to a convincing win tonight, topping Louisa, 76-41. D.J. brown scored 13 points to pace the Hornets.
Albemarle got a big double double from Cameron Anderson on 17 points and 15 rebounds, as Albemarle defeated Brooke Point in Commonwealth District action, 54-51. In private school action, STAB fell to Christchurch, 75-70.
Girls action saw Western Albemarle top Charlottesville, 42-38. Ellen Shaffrey and Carolyn Schneller each scored 12 points for the Warriors in the win. Tameeka Williams scored 12 for the Knights in the losing effort. Other Jefferson District action saw Orange top Louisa, 56-42.
