The Virginia men's lacrosse team hit the field for the first time Saturday afternoon looking to take their first step toward a fifth national championship.
They jumped all over the Dragons early. scoring seven unanswered goals to start the game, and went into the half with a commanding 7-1 lead. After the break however, Drexel scored two quick goals to pull within four. However, the Cavs were just too much. After a five goal performance from Garrett Billings and freshman Steele Stanwick's first two career goals, Virginia held on for the 13-7 victory.
The Cavaliers jump right back into action on Monday afternoon at Klockner Stadium, as they take on Bryant University who is making their Division I debut.
