Newly appointed defensive coordinator Bob Diaco will step down from his position on the Cavalier football team so he can take a similar position at Cincinnati. Diaco is the fifth coach from the 2008 staff who will not return for the 2009 season.

Diaco will rejoin head coach Brian Kelly at Cincinnati, who he coached with at Central Michigan. He joined the Cavalier coaching staff in 2006 as the special teams coach and linebackers coach, and was promoted to defensive coordinator in December.

This departure comes less than a week after Bob Pruett announced his retirement from coaching. Pruett was moved from defensive coordinator to assistant head coach when the December shake up occurred as well.

There have also been some rumblings that former offensive coordinator Rob Prince may return to Virginia to fill that assistant head coach role. Prince took over the head coaching duties at Kansas State following the 2005 season and was released in 2008.

We will keep you updated on any new happenings regarding the Virginia coaching staff.
