Freshman Sylven Landesberg is this week's ACC Rookie of the Week, marking the sixth time he has earned the honor this season. He is now tied with Bryant Stith for the most rookie of the week awards ever by a Virginia player.
Landesberg scored a team high 14 points in the Cavaliers' 68-57 loss at Florida State last Tuesday. He followed that up with a 23 point performance in Sunday's 85-81 overtime win against Clemson. Landesberg played all 45 minutes of that contest and scored six of Virginia's eleven points in the overtime period. It marked the 12th time this season that Landesberg has scored 20 or more points.
In addition to tying Stith's Virginia record, he is also tied for third on the conference list for that award. With four more ACC Rookie of the Week honors, we would tie the record of ten set by Tyler Hansbrough and Kenny Anderson.
Landesberg and Virginia tip off with Virginia Tech at 8:00pm on Wednesday at John Paul Jones Arena.
