Virginia women's lacrosse team started it's 2009 campaign in dominant fashion on Wednesday. Routing in-state and ACC rival Virginia Tech 19-3.
The Cavs came storming out of the gate, scoring five unanswered goals and took a commanding 10-2 lead into the half. After the break, Virginia continued their domination. Scoring 50 seconds into the second half, and scoring the last eight goals of the game.
Ashley McCulloch led the way for Virginia, scoring four goals with four assists. Blair Weymouth was right behind her with three goals and two assists, and freshmen Bailey Fogarty and Julie Garnder both scored their first collegiate goals of their careers.
The Cavs are back in action on Saturday, as they travel to Baltimore, MD to take on the Loyola Greyhounds at 3:30.
