Sylven Landesberg scored 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds as the Cavalier men's basketball team rolled to a 75-71 victory at John Paul Jones Arena on Wednesday night. The win marks Virginia's second straight victory and improves its record to 9-13, 3-8 in the ACC.
The Cavaliers got out to a good start, using good defense and high percentage shots to jump out to a ten point halftime lead, 39-29. Landesberg scored 12 of his 19 points in the first half, including an impressive drive and dunk early in the action.
Unlike their last game against Clemson, the Wahoos were able to keep the lead in the second half, as they extended it to 19 points. Virginia Tech would pull back to within ten, but the Cavaliers held on down the stretch to earn the conference win.
With the victory, Virginia avenges a loss it suffered to the Hokies back on January 10, and snaps a three game losing streak against its arch rival. Mike Scott added 13 points and nine rebounds in the win to help fuel the Cavaliers.
Next up for Virginia is a trip to Raleigh where North Carolina State awaits. That match up will tip off on Saturday at 1:00pm from RBC Center. Click on the above video link to view highlights and reaction from Wednesday's match up with Virginia Tech.
