The Cavalier men's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 on the young season Saturday afternoon by topping Stony Brook, 20-10. Virginia rallied behind the performance of attackman Garrett Billings.
Billings tied a school record by scoring eight goals in the game, setting a new career high in the process. Billings' previous career high was five goals, set last Saturday in Virginia's win against Drexel. He also added three assists to finish with another career high of eleven points.
The Cavaliers jumped out quick on the Seawolves, building a 5-0 lead in the first quarter. Virginia would lead 10-3 at the half, and double that total by the time the final second ran off the clock.
Rhamel Bratton and Brian Carroll chipped in three goals each to help Virginia to the win. The Cavaliers will get back to work on Tuesday night, as they host Mount St. Mary's at Klockner Stadium. Face off is set for 7:00pm.
