The Cavaliers baseball team kicked off their 2009 season in dominating fashion. Sweeping Bucknell four games to none over the weekend.
On Sunday, Virginia used a six-run first inning to jump on the Bisons and cruise to an 11-1 victory. Sophomore Jarrett Parker led off the day with a solo homerun to start the six run rally, and finished the day going 3-5, falling just a single short of the cycle. Franco Valdes also hit a homer on Sunday, his second of the season. Virginia hit a total of six homeruns over the four-game span.
With the run support came great pitching. Virginia allowed only two runs in the series with the Bisons, only one of them earned. That leaves the Cavalier pitching with a sparkling 0.25 ERA.
Virginia tries to keep the win streak alive against William and Mary on Tuesday at Davenport Field.
