The Cavalier baseball team avenged a loss from last season and did so in dominating fashion, topping William and Mary, 11-1, in action on Tuesday afternoon. Virginia improves to 5-0 on the season.
Pitching once again held the opponent at bay. Will Roberts shined in his first career start, lasting five innings and giving up no earned runs on two hits while striking out five. The Tribe's lone run was unearned, as the Cavalier pitching staff has only given up one earned run in five games.
At the plate it marked another hot day for Virginia. The Cavaliers scored four runs in the second inning and five runs in the third inning to build a 9-0 lead and cruised from there. Jarrett Parker went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and 3 RBI, while Phil Gosselin also went 2-for-4 with 3 RBI. The Cavaliers have now scored 47 runs in five games.
Virginia returns to action Friday, as the Cavaliers host Fordham. First pitch is scheduled for 4:00pm.
