Brian Carroll scored three goals to lead Virginia, as the Cavalier men's lacrosse team cruised past Mt. St. Mary's Tuesday night, 10-2. Carroll scored the first three goals of the contest to get Virginia started strong.
Carroll's first two goals came in the first minute and half of the game, as he scored on the first two shots of the contest, and Virginia's defense held Mt. St. Mary's scoreless until the fourth quarter. The Cavaliers had their fair share of opportunities, out-shooting the Mounts, 60-16, on the night. Shamel Bratton was the only other Cavalier with multiple goals, tallying two.
Dom Starsia's squad has now topped opponents by an average of 7.5 goals per game through the first four contests. The Wahoos are also averaging 13.25 goals per game.
Virginia hits the road for its next contest, a showdown with top ranked Syracuse on Friday. The Orange topped the Cavs in overtime to end their season last year in the national semifinals. Face off at the Carrier Dome is set for 7:00.
