The Madison Mountaineers showed another dominating performance Wednesday night, taking care of eight-seeded George Mason 59-44.
Mason did jump out to an early lead on Madison. The Mustangs managed to start the game on a 7-2 run, before watching it quickly dissipate at the hands of David Falk, Logan Terrell, and 2009 Bull Run District player of the year Jerel Carter. The Mountaineers took a 10 point lead late in the second quarter, and capped the first half off with a Sam Utz put-back buzzer beater after a missed Carter three-pointer.
In the second half, Madison never looked back. They handily defeated the Mustangs by 15 points to advance in the Region-B tournament and remain undefeated at 25-0.
The Mountaineers will try to to keep rolling in the regional semi-finals on Friday where they will face either Appomattox or Buckingham.
