Hagerman's Five Goals Lead UVa past Syracuse

February 27, 2009

The Virginia women's lacrosse team upset Syracuse 14-11 Friday night behind five goals from Whitaker Hagerman.

The game was tied 6-6 at the half, but Virginia scored the first four goals of the second half to jump out to a 10-6 lead. The Orange would cut the lead down to two, but that is as close as the Cavaliers would allow them to get. Virginia scored the next three goals to build 14-9 lead and hold on for the win.

Jenny Hauser had four goals on the day to go with Hagerman's five. Ashley McCulloch also chipped in with two goals and five assists.

The Cavaliers will try to improve to 5-0 next Friday when they host Maryland. The game is scheduled to begin at 7 pm.
