Cavalier guard Sylven Landesberg has been selected to the 2009 ACC All-Freshmen team, as well as the All ACC Honorable Mention team. Landesberg was unanimously selected to the All-Freshmen squad, as was Wake Forest forward Al-Farouq Aminu.
Landesberg has had his ups and downs in terms of scoring this season, but a majority of his games have been on the higher side. He has been named ACC Rookie of the Week six times, and his 16.8 points per game are good enough for ninth in the ACC, tops among freshmen. He scored a career high of 28 points in his collegiate debut against VMI.
Landesberg and Aminu have been two freshmen that have stood out for their respective teams, but Aminu has gotten more national attention, based on the Demon Deacons' success. One of those players is most likely the ACC Rookie of the Year, which will be announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Landesberg and the Cavaliers are the eleventh seed for the upcoming ACC Tournament. They'll tip off with Boston College on Thursday at 9:00pm.
