It was supposed to be a day of destiny for Virginia Basketball. A chance to prove all of the doubters wrong and advance in the ACC tournament. In the beginning of the season, the Cavaliers we're picked to finish dead last in the conference at number 12. On Thursday night Virginia came in one spot better in the 11 seed, but could not advance past a pesky Boston College team.
Virginia could not recover from a 12 point halftime deficit and were outscored by just one point in the second period. Boston College thrived behind a 25 point performance from Rakim Sanders in the 76-63 win.
Mamadi Diane scored 24 points in the losing effort. Jamil Tucker chipped in with 13 points, and ACC Rookie of the Year Sylven Landesberg scored 11 points.
