The Cavalier men's basketball team is in search of a head coach, after Virginia announced Dave Leitao's resignation on Monday. In the aftermath of the announcement, several people are sounding off on the issue, while the ACC Rookie of the Year will continue to suit up in orange and blue.
Sylven Landesberg will remain a Cavalier, despite the coaching change. The Washington Post is reporting that Landesberg's father, Steve Landesberg, told the publication that Sylven was emotional, and the he and Leitao had become friends. The elder Landesberg went on to say that they felt bad for Leitao. He also said that his son would remain a Cavalier and that they support Virginia in a phone conversation with Craig Littlepage.
Debbie Ryan also discussed the departure of her former colleague. Ryan said that Leitao has always been good to her players and her program, and that he will be missed on the grounds of Virginia, as he is a great person.
CBS19 also caught up with former Cavalier player Stuart Kessler. Kessler says that he, along with other former players, never like to see bad things happen to people on a personal level, but feel that it is time for a change. Kessler also went on to say that he is excited about the program.
