The Cavalier baseball team resumes ACC play Friday night, as they open up a weekend series against Miami. Both teams enter ranked in the nation's top ten, as Virginia is seventh and Miami holds the number four spot.
Virginia enters with an 18-0 record and is the country's only unbeaten Division I club. The Cavaliers got two wins on Wednesday, topping Canisius and Wagner in double header action. In their last ACC series, the Wahoos topped Florida State, 15-2, last Friday, with the other two series contests canceled due to weather. Virginia is 4-0 in ACC play.
Miami is 16-3 on the season and is looking to continue its early success. Last weekend, the Hurricanes swept Duke in an ACC series, improving to 5-1 in conference play.
Last season, Miami swept the Cavaliers in Coral Gables, outscoring the Cavaliers 15-3 in the three games.
Freshman Danny Hultzen will take the mound to open up the series on Friday night. Hultzen boasts a 1.07 earned run average. First pitch for Friday's contest is set for 6:00pm. Saturday and Sunday's contests both have scheduled 1:00pm starts.
