Virginia women's lacrosse started Saturday evenings game with fourth-ranked Duke in the best possible way. The Cavaliers opened up the game on a three-nothing run and had complete control of the games momentum. The appearance was deceiving. Duke took grabbed the lead and never looked back.
Duke used performances Carolyn Davis and Lindsay Gilbride to vault the Blue Devils ahead of Virginia, as they each netted four goals on the day.
Virginia would knot the game up at 12 late in the second half. However, with just 11 seconds remaining on the clock, Cassi Carley netted the game winner for Duke, and handed the Cavs their third ACC loss of the season.
Virginia was lead by Jenny Hauser who had a career high six goals on the day. Virginia will try to rebound on Wednesday as they travel to Old Dominion.
