Both Virginia lacrosse teams have seen plenty of success throughout the 2009 campaign. The men's team held the number one ranking for most of the season, and have only lost one game this season. The women are fresh off a 13-5 win over the hosting Virginia Tech in the first round of the ACC tournament.

Thursday both teams were recognized for their success. The men led all teams in the conference by placing four players on the All-ACC team. Shamel Bratton, Brian Carroll, Danny Glading, and Mike Timms. Glading makes the team for the third time in his career, and Carroll's second in a row.

Head coach Dom Starsia and freshman Steele Stanwick each received individual awards. Starsia was named the ACC Coach of the Year for a record eighth time, and Stanwick was named the ACC Rookie of the Year.

Jenny Hauser, Blair Weymouth, Ashley McCollough, and Kaitlin Duff all were named to the ACC women's lacrosse team. Hauser, Weymouth, and McCollough are All-American Attack, while Duff is making her second appearance on the team.
