The Cavalier baseball team departed for Durham on Monday, the site of the 2009 ACC Tournament. Virginia enters as the sixth seed and look for its second straight appearance in the championship game.
The Cavs enter as part of Group B, along with second seeded North Carolina, third seeded Clemson, and seventh seeded Duke. Virginia opens up with Clemson on Thursday night at approximately 8:00pm. The Cavaliers and Tigers did not meet during the regular season, though Clemson could prove to be a challenge right out of the gate. The Tigers are 19-11 in ACC play this season.
Friday finds the Cavaliers facing North Carolina. The Tar Heels took two of three from Virginia during the regular season. UNC is 41-14 overall, 19-10 in conference play.
Virginia will face off with Duke on Saturday in the Cavaliers' final game in group play. The Cavs took two of three from the Blue Devils during the first weekend of May. Duke is 15-15 in the ACC.
The Cavaliers are looking to get back to the ACC Championship Game for the second consecutive season. Last year, they topped North Carolina and Florida State en route to a title game appearance, where they faced Miami. The Hurricanes eventually won the match up, 8-4.
