Singh, the lone Virginia player still alive in singles play, took on #6 seed John-Patrick Smith of Tennessee, last year's NCAA singles runner-up. Singh would go on to beat Smith in straight sets 6-4, 7-5, becoming the third Cavalier to reach the NCAA singles quarterfinals. He will take on #1 seed Arnau Brugues of Tulsa Saturday for the right to move on to the semifinals.
Meanwhile, the doubles team of Inglot and Shabaz took down Christian Rojamr and Raony Carvalho of Texas Tech in straight sets 6-3, 6-4. With their second round win, Inglot and Shabaz have received All-American honors. The duo will now take on No. 5-8 seed Omar Altmann and Bassam Beidas of Pepperdine in Saturday's quarterfinals.
