Virginia Wins ACC Tournament Title; 6-3 Victory Over FSU

May 24, 2009

The UVa baseball team plated three runs in the 9th inning, sparked by a John Hicks 2-run single, to beat Florida State 6-3 and capture the ACC tournament title Sunday.

The conference championship is Virginia's first since 1996. The Cavaliers played in the title game a year ago in 2008, but were defeated by Miami.

The 6th-seeded Cavaliers are the lowest seed to ever win the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship. The Seminoles were the tournament's top seed.
