Fresh off its ACC Tournament win, the Virginia baseball team has more challenges ahead. The Cavaliers will head to Irvine, California, for their NCAA Regional, and face three tough teams in the process.
Virginia is the number two seed in the regional. Host UC Irvine holds the region's top seed, and the tournament's sixth overall seed. The Anteaters are the nation's number one ranked team in the polls, and will look to defend their home turf.
San Diego State is the number three seed in the region. The Aztecs put together a 40-21 record, and rely heavily on stud pitcher Steven Strasburg. Strasburg is the likely number one pick in next month's Major League Baseball Amateur Draft, is 13-0 on the year, and has a fast ball that tops out at 103 miles per hour.
Fresno State is the other team in the region, the defending College World Series champions. The Bulldogs are 32-28, and earned their way in by winning the WAC championship.
